First Victim

This song is inspired by the prologue of the first book, House of Dark Shadows. The piano at about 2:23 is supposed to be the 'theme of the house.' I wanted something different and slightly creepy. You’ll notice that the end of the song isn't 'happy' at all. I wanted the listener to have the sense that something or someone is missing. And of course, someone is missing. It’s like a sharp breath, which is what the family is feeling.

The House

The plot line of this song is when the King family first go to the house. (It is from Xander’s point of view… he is slightly paranoid about the house.) The “house theme” plays for a bit, which is their entering the house, and looking around. Then the music gets creepy. That’s when they start to wonder where Toria is. Then the creepy music suddenly stops, and that’s when Toria appears near the railing. Then the house theme plays a little bit more. (It’s short, but it was a lot of fun!)

Curse of the Spider King: Main Theme

Wayne Thomas Batson asked me to write a theme for his book, Curse of the Spider King. He said he wanted the children's song "Itsy Bitsy Spider" incorporated in it some how. So, I put "Itsy Bitsy Spider" into a minor key, and turned it into a waltz. That's how I got the theme.
